Halloween Horror Nights 26 Takes On Hollywood And Kills It | Written By: Lee

What’s my favorite event each and every year? Halloween Horror Nights 26 has opened and is now in full haunt. I visited this past week and it was one of the best years yet. Time and time again I come to you and brag on the original houses. This year however the movie houses were by far killing it. And I mean that quite literally. The entire event was one for the books, or the blogs.

The weather is still hot hot hot in Orlando so please remember to dress appropriately. I didn’t and boy did I pay for it. I sweat so hard and was just miserable the entire evening. Yuck. Also please wear comfy shoes. You tend to be in even more close quarters than usual at this Halloween event inside Universal Studios. You wait in the long lines, which can be up to 100 minutes, and then the houses are cramped. Protect your toes and support your soles.

Now let me tell you about all the houses I desperately want to go back to.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

This house was my absolute favorite inside and out. Room by room you get to relive the horror that was Leatherface and his messed up family. Grandfather dines with Sally and Franklin takes it in the gut. Prepared to be scared and scared again. And again.

Halloween Hell Comes To Haddonfield

The Halloween II house was a close second. So close I almost couldn’t decide between them. I’ve mentioned before that I am a huge Michael Myers fan and that Halloween terrifies me so once again, this house had me cringing. That mask just does me in. The HHN 26 house started off where the Halloween Horror Nights 24 Halloween House left off. The cast is in the hospital, remember that movie? Jamie Lee Curtis has to blow up Micheal Myers? Oh the final scene of the house is hot and heavy and I’ll be looking forward the next house!

American Horror Story

Let me preface this by saying it isn’t exactly my favorite house. However, it was Tim’s favorite and so it deserves a mention. It was fantastically well done. FX granted them 3 seasons of the show to work with. Murder House, Freak Show and Hotel. This house, which I felt was longer than others, was broken up really well scene by scene from these seasons. Evan Peters character Tate Langdon makes an appearance as does Lady Gaga of course. Twisty the Clown seems to be a big deal and he shows up quite a few times and gives you quite a fright. I was especially freaked out by anything Freak Show related but the Hotel scenes were spine tingling as well.

As I say every year I just wasn’t all about The Walking Dead. I realize this is Universal’s bread and butter so I hope you like it. It was dark, as usual, and I don’t mean content. The cast of the show even showed up at our media night to say hello and thank us for continued support. The Exorcist wasn’t all I wanted it to be either. I spoke to a few people that said they couldn’t do this house due to their own religious beliefs and it wouldn’t kill anyone to skip it if they needed to. Tomb of the Ancients was my favorite original house where there was more than just jump scares and stuff hanging from the ceiling. This would be my 3rd favorite house of the evening so try not to miss it!

Scare Zones

Scare Zones are one of the best parts of Halloween Horror Nights and this year was the same as most. The Scare Zones were especially unique this year with for example Dead Man’s Wharf. Think, fisherman long since dead on a ship wreck come back to kill the town. Barnacles grown, seaweed hanging and a lot of raincoats. In A Chance In Hell you get to know Chance the Clown. As the lunatics run around you she takes the stage. You can even stop and chat with her. But be careful, she’s not safe.

Bill And Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure 25th Anniversary

The one disappointing aspect of the night was Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure. Although this was the 26th HHN this was the 25th Bill and Ted show. For such a big anniversary I was expecting a lot more. It was quite disappointing. Our guide promised the show grows more and more and gets better as the season moves forward. I’d hope so, because the Ry Loken Star Wars (wasn’t Star Wars almost a year ago) knock off show was quite boring. Even the big shebang ending didn’t produce many fireworks. I highly recommend skipping this show to, I don’t know, ride Men In Black. Ouch.

Hurry up and buy your tickets and do not leave that queue without an Express Pass or even better, purchase a RIP Tour. Do not I repeat do not walk into Halloween Horror Nights 26 without a way to get to the front of those lines. You will not see all there is to see. That is always my biggest piece of advice. Year 26 is a great year, freaky movie houses you need to see. So see them with no stress!

Halloween Horror Nights 26 runs until Oct. 31. Tell me what you thought and your favorite house once you visit.
