A few months ago I was invited to join a Universal Orlando Resort VIP Experience private tour. Ed, my tour guide, who I’d recommend to everyone booking a tour, made this day fantastic. Obviously there’s the fact that you don’t have to wait in line. No one likes to wait in a line and Ed just walked us right through the magic door that winds up at the entrance to the ride. He also taught us so many extra tidbits of information about the rides, the scenery, and just about anything else we could think of to ask him. For example did you know they change out the posters in the alley ways to keep things fresh? They age them, but they do change. Now you have something to look at each time you visit. I will say I gave Ed a run for his money in Marvel Superhero Island. I’m certainly a super fan and have done a ton of homework on the land. Because of course I did.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong

Universal wanted to be sure my group hit the new Skull Island: Reign of Kong ride. This was our priority and it had been long awaited. Now let me first say I’m a bit disappointed we didn’t wait in the line this one time. Because the line is interactive, so be ready for this. Oh never mind, you can’t be ready so forget I said anything. Just keep it in the back of your mind that this line isn’t so terrible. The King Kong ride itself was a lot of fun. Here’s a tip though, sit on the outside. They say it doesn’t matter but it totally does. You are riding in an actual vehicle but the ride is a 3D experience taking place all around you. However your vehicle doesn’t move and spin the way Spider-man does for example.

As you may or may not know, the movie Skull Island is coming out soon and this ride follows a similar story. King Kong has an island, he reigns, of course the domesticated humans come and mess stuff up. Will he save us from destruction or let us perish? This ride could be scary for little kids, it has dinosaurs and an incredibly loud gigantic ape with a thing for blondes. Don’t miss it.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster

Next in the can’t miss moments of our Universal Orlando Resort VIP Experience was the brand new The Incredible Hulk Coaster. They took this baby down and it was out of service for a while during refurbishment. Now it’s back and ready to roar into action. Ed explained the entire new plot to us and it was confusing then, so 2 months later it’s even more confusing. I’m almost positive that everyone who rides the coaster is being hit with gamma rays and turning into the Hulk. I don’t ride coasters but Tim said the track itself was pretty similar to the old track but none the less incredibly fun. You must check out the inside of the building because it is a trip. I’ve included a picture but trust me, it does the lab zero justice.

VIP Dining Experience

Because the tour lasted all day we were treated to the VIP Dining Experience. Now this idea was absolutely divine. Universal’s VIP Experience team pulled together a buffet with food from the best restaurants in their parks. That way, you don’t have to choose where to eat. I was actually quite bummed I couldn’t fill up on every single dish they were offering as I was also eating dinner at Toothsome that evening and had to keep somewhat hungry. It was a definite struggle to pick and choose when everything was fantastic.

Something special Ed shared with our group was that Universal executives put up this beautiful glass window in remembrance of employees they lost in the Pulse shooting. It brought tears to all of our eyes. Next time you’re visiting be sure to walk down to the Pantages Theater for this Universal Studios Pulse Shooting Memorial.

If you have the ability to take part in a Universal Orlando Resort VIP Experience I say do it. It costs a bit more than what someone like I can afford in my day to day but for once in a lifetime it would be worth it. Get there on time and stay until they tell you to go home. Oh and ask for Ed, because he’s really good at his job and he enjoys it so much. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ride the same ride 3x in a row or ask if there is a backstage area you can check out. That’s what you are paying for and Ed is there to make your experience one to remember.
